The journal was intended as a playground for your inner child: here, there is no pressure to make things look nice or even to make sense. 

While the deck isn't necessary to use the journal, it can be helpful to trigger mental images, words and memories. Here's a couple of ways you can use them together:

A. Pull a card from the deck and find the corresponding entry in the journal: this is the one you'll be working with.

B. If you already know which emotion you want to work with, but you're feeling a bit stuck, find the matching card in the deck or reach for the guidebook. It will surely spark some ideas in your mind.
